Over here (Aust) we think that law is bizarre. As you said you can fight a war - you can vote - you can drive a car - you pay taxes; all the reasons that we CAN have a beer at 18. I think it was some God-botherer that came up with the idea after booze became legal again in America.

it should be 21. The decision over 18 vs. 21 is up to the individual state, and not federal. Though states that have tried 18 as a drinking age severly paid a high price for it with alcohol related incidents. Which is a strong reason why I think voting, and voluntary enrollment into the military should be at the same limit.

Nope, some states lowered the drinking age to 18 at one time. (coincidentally the year I turned 18). The rise is in deaths from auto accidents caused by drinking youth of the 18-21 age group grew so fast and dramatically that they took it back to 21 (coincidentally the year I turned 22). So I'm cool with age of 21. Would like to see voting go back to 21 too.

I think that if you are 18-21 with a valid active duty military ID, you should be able to drink...
But other than that....it should stay at 21.
I think being able to have a beer should be allowed to our service members. They are out on the line risking their asses....
Ummm....Jen...they tried that...you abviously aren't very well educated in recent American history...do a google search on your little puter right there and look up prohibition!

I think its the right age. You can only buy a beer by showing them your drivers liscense (unless your clearly over the age of 21) which proves your responsible enough to drive. So yeah...i think its pretty fair.

I believe if you are at least 18 years of age you should be allowed to drink alcohol. Drunk driving should still be illegal but if kids are going to drink anyway, why not just give in?

No, I suppouse you think it would be better if it was like here in Italy where you can drink at 16 and the high schoolers go out on the weekends and get totally drunk.

i think kids who want to drink are going to find a way to drink, no matter what the drinking age is. yes, making the drinking age older makes it harder for them to drink, but they will still do it. it's a difficult problem to solve.
