In a recent episode (or rerun) of the Gilmore Girls, Rory text messaged Logan and then worried when he didn't respond, so she called him. While they were on the phone, she said she wanted to text message them but couldn't do it while they were on the phone, so they hung up. What was she using to text message him? Was it a phone? or a special device only for email/text messages?

She was using a SideKick; a cell phone that has a full keyboard that is very easy to text with. T-Mobile uses the Sidekick (which is what I think she was using), and then Verizon has also come out with one, but I don't know much about that.
A Sidekick costs about $200, and then is an extra $30/month on top of your monthly fee to use... If you text a lot or need to be online a lot (but not at a computer), they're great!!!
