I didn't have the clock problem, but I had the slowdown problem and solved it by closing and exiting limewire completely after each use. Be sure the icon doesn't stay on your taskbar, because that means even though you left and logged out, it's open and active.

I use LimeWire but I know that there is spyware on it. That's why I have Norton Anti-Virus. Norton can't delete ALL of the viruses, so you have to be careful. You could of downloaded too much porn or just too much programs. Most of the programs and porn is what causes the problem of viruses.
Note: You definetly have a virus.
So, try deleting all the programs(if you have any) and all the porn(if you have any) off of LimeWire and then run Norton(get the free 30 day trial and use it for 30 days..probably twice a week).
After doing the above, Go to the following:
1.Start
2.All Programs
3.Accessories
4.System Tools
5.Disk Defragmentor
Run the Disk Defragmentor by simple clicking "Defragment".
You should do this every day or at LEAST once a week.
So do all the steps listed above and see what happens. If worse comes to worse, Re-Format your computer.
Hope this works and Happy Holidays!
From,
Phil

There is a very good chance that your computer is infected by adware, spyware and/ or other malicious files. An antivirus program won't be able to detect adware or spyware. In addition, antivirus programs have limited abilities to detect Trojans horses or worms. You should uninstall Limewire and attempt to restore your computer, using system restore, to an earlier point before you installed Limewire. If this does not fix the problem, you should download a anti spyware program to scan your computer. It is highly recommend to use more than 1 anti spyware program because no one anti spyware program catches all spyware. The 3 most popular free anti spyware programs are: Lavasoft's Ad Aware, Spybot Search & Destroy and Microsoft's Windows Defender. You can find all these programs at:
http://www.filehippo.com/software/antispyware/
All file sharing applications have some risk of spyware or other malicious infection. I don't recommend continuing to use such applications. But, if you must, be sure to have at least a antivirus program, firewall and anti spyware program. It is also a good idea to try Peer Guardian, a program that protects your computer from detection and intrusions. You can download the program from http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/. You can read more about it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PeerGuardian
"PeerGuardian and PeerGuardian 2 are free and open source programs developed by Phoenix Labs. They are capable of blocking incoming and outgoing connections based on IP blocklists. Their purpose is to block several organizations, including the RIAA and MPAA while using filesharing networks such as FastTrack and BitTorrent. The system is also capable of blocking advertising, spyware, government and educational ranges, depending upon user preferences....[more]" -- wikipedia.org

Heres something I had noticed in my experiences with dealing with Limewire:
Limewire had "downloaded" a gazillion (yes I know, a made-up number) so called "files" with common names such as "adobe photoshop crack" and "microsoft office". These were all clones of some virus that was caught on the victims computer. So what happened is that they were HIDDEN files, and thus you wouldn't see them normally.
When this happpened to my brother's laptop, I noticed he was getting pop-ups and extremely slow speed. When I first ran ad-ware, I noticed it going through a million files that my brother didn't know came from. Upon a lot of inspected and de-hidden-ing, I was able to delete (and I am serious about the number) 5 Gigabytes of virus-infected "files!"
So to put it in short:
Do what the others are saying, Ad-ware, Spy-bot, etc.
If you use Hijack this, BE CAREFUL. Don't accidently delete something important.
Worse-come-worse, if the computer is basically irrepairable in terms of viruses, system restore it or reinstall Windows, though you won't have to do this very often.

A reply to other replies,
- I have had Lime Wire since about 4 years ago, no spyware or adware or viruses
- None of the songs I downloaded were infected
- Some programs I've downloaded were
Just scan your computer for abnormalities, but I doubt it's Lime Wire. Yes, they used to have a spyware program, Lime Shop, but since version 4 it has been removed.

i assume this laptop replaced into offered from a popularity type and not custom made. fairly some circumstances companies like Dell and HP kit deal their desktops with fairly some ineffective utility (aka crapware). This frequently effects interior the consumer having a team of classes initiating once you initiate your laptop. Over a quick volume of time the consumer (you) will set up much greater "initiate" classes on actual of those. So, your first step must be to disable the initiate classes and/or uninstall them in case you do no longer use them. Secondly your anti virus Norton in spite of the reality that a good anti virus software is often happening to be a "source hog" meaning it is going to soak up fairly some your memory (No hard rigidity area, once I say memory i mean RAM). with the intention to repair this undertaking you may the two set up a easy weight Anti virus software or set up greater RAM. setting up greater RAM ought to help you laptop overall no depend what (assuming you have much less then 4GB of RAM already in there). third, Cookies are not the only element that secretly enhance by way of the years. receive and run a software noted as CCleaner and this might freshen up all the junk data you're possibly blind to. CCleaner may additionally help fastened registry subjects with in residing house windows. And finally a good disk defragment will help save your hard rigidity amazing and neat. wish I helped.

most likely adaware or spyware.... Those sites are awash with viruses... and what not. I'd really think about getting rid of limewire... getting a good program to wash away the stuff that's been put on the puter.... and go from there

Working with a slow computer can be time consuming as programs/ applications take a long time to start. This problem is more pronounced in computers which have been used for 6 or more months. More information at http://fixit.in/slowcomputer.html
