First-the US and other Western countries have to stop trying to force democracy on the people who live there
Second-We(the US) have to start showing the Iraqis that we are there not as conquerors, but as liberators
Third-We have to let countries like Iran and the former Iraq, who have different governments than us govern themselves. We can't go into a country and try to change the government because it is not to our liking and still expect the population to embrace us

These morons screaming "Nuke them" are just about as useful as the terrorists.
The Middle east has not hat peace in over 2000 years. I doubt things are going to change even if the Palestinian/Israel issues are fixed. Any good Military man will tell you the same damn thing. We as westerners do not live the same way as the people of the middle east. They are Tribal, Feudal and religious to the extreme. Islam rules first then Kings, Presidents, Sheiks etc. Sects hate sects, tribes hate tribes ad infinitum.
You can not have peace in a place where people have fought so long they know of no other way of life. Someone is always on the attack.

Peace cannot be achieved for the people of the Middle East, they have to do it for themselves. The US took out a genocidal dictator, Saddam, and should have just left 30 days after that. You cannot have peace when you have an uneducated population who rely on violent power hungry leaders who use the world of Allah as a means of lusting after power. We can't do anything and should just stand by and wait to see what is left. Probably not much.

I think the government of Iraq is going to have to get tough on the terrorist. Much tougher than they are now. The borders need to be sealed off from Syria and Iran, and the annihilation of the insurgents needs to commence. Once Iraq gains control as a country then and only then can the coalition go home.

The U.N and a world effort which a democratic president would have been able to rally more worldly suppport to combat the terrorist and insurgents. The best thing in Iraq we can do now is slowly pull out, leave advisors there, with a U.S embassy. And run secret op missions to provide intell on terrorist and destroy them. This whole unifying Iraq thing isn't working to well. Why not concentrate on Bin Laden and Al Qeada as much?!?!
