Lydia mentions him a lot in 'the year of secret assignments*' and I wonder if anyone familiar with Word knows anything about such tendencies in the program.

Someone doctored a picture of the paperclip man once; it wasn't anyone from Microsoft and the paperclip man never actually says/asks anything suicidal in nature within Microsoft, its just a prank. You can view it here:

I thought the Paperclip Man was that guy that traded a paperclip for a house on eBay.

Beware the paperclip man, do not listen to a word he sais, it's all lies, LIES I TELLS YA!!!! he tells me to cut people and burn things, and at first I was like yeah ok that seems fair so i burned my teachers car, and he was all "What the f*ck have you done to my car you little t*rd!!" and I was all "No, wait it wasn't me, it was the paper clip man, the paper clip man!!" but I still got arrested. The paperclip man is evil, he will kill your family and eat your brains.

Programs aren't alive, so they cannot be killed and thus suicide is impossible.
