As a non smoker I find it so hard to understand people who do smoke as its clinically proven that smoking contributes to all sorts of health problems & diseases. What more motivation do you need. A good idea would be to visit a few poor souls in your local hospice, who at some time may have been in the same situation with no motivation to quit, but my God I bet they wish they could have found the motivation now! I know we are all guilty of bad habits & excesses of one kind or another & I'm no exception, but you will be doing yourself ( and others around you) one enormous favour by quitting. Dont decide to stop ' after this last packet or after the weekend or after your holidays or whenever you have to make the decision to do it NOW, that last packet might just be the catalyst to spell disaster. Good luck !

You have to REALLY want to do it & set yourself a goal as a reason to give up smoking. I used pass my driving test. Saved a bundle of cash & spent it on extra lessons. I Passed.
When giving up, the 1st thing you will notice is the urge to eat because smoking kills the hunger & when you stop, you also still have the habit of hand to mouth action which you will grab snacks. Curb this one by getting a ball or rubix cube to keep your hands busy. Chew gum to keep your mouth gowing without eating. Let everyone know your plan to quit so they can help you.

Good Luck.

I just gave it up cold turkey years ago. I was up to almost two packs a day, decided I wanted to quit, didn't have any doubts about doing it, and just quit. I never wanted to smoke from that day forward.

One thing I can suggest is that you stay away from people who are smoking, because breathing their smoke would be just like you smoking a cigarette yourself.

Will power and a wish to give up is the only answer.. I used to buy a packet of chocolate eclairs at first instead if the cigarettes this helped break the daily habit of going to the shop ..
