It's hard to give an honest opinion of dissent when you fear the consequences. I'm honestly paranoid thanks to the lack of personal privacy now. I have broken no laws. I have simply voiced my opposition to GWs politics. I fear my government. speaking out on the internet is a liability. The wider your audience, the greater the threat you are to changing the sleeping person's point of view to agree with your own.

Probably a long time. There are escaped criminals that the government cannot find right now (look at the most wanted list) so they obviously are not that good at tracking people. Plus look at all the dissenting opinions here, I have yet to really see a bunch of Bush bashers start disappearing. I have seen message boards that make the biggest liberal here look like they wear a vote for Dubya T-shirt, they haven't been shut down.

Truth is there is no trampling of rights, dissent is still happening and no one is going to jail for it. Normally when you hear of people going to jail for speaking against Bush, its normally because they were either throwing stones at police or causing some other disturbance that is against the law while they were doing it.

Please get over your self, no one is worried about you swaying the masses over to some sort of anarchy. By the way what sort of personal privacies have you lost under GW?
You are simply repeating something you heard from another Lib or read in the Times.

I thnk you are nuts and have been made to believe by people just as nuts that the Feds have an agent assigned to anyone who speaks out. The Fed govt is not that efficient. It might soothe you ego to think that you are important enough to have that kind of attention, and you may buy into that wacky stuff but don't think you have any more risk than what you represent to yourself.

I feel the same way when I say something about Democrats...afraid that I'll be personally attacked when walking out my door, since I live in the Seattle area, and it's notorious Democrat.

And, pretty soon Nancy Pelosi will be quite powerful, and she could have someone shank anyone of us that talk bad about her...
