As Kevin pointed out, the word you are looking for is regenerate.
Most lizards have the ability to loose their tails as a defense mechanism to avoid predation. Their tails have special vertebrae that can be dislocated; thus breaking off the tail. Once the tail breaks off, the vertebrae from that section are lost. The regenerated tail is formed by a cartilaginous rod under the skin of the tail instead of bone. If cut again, the tail can regenerate only if cut at one of the remaining vertebrae. If the tail is cut at the cartilaginous section, it cannot be regenerated.

no longer all lizards can drop there tail and for people who do, i'm not sure in the event that they do it consciously (i think of its something they instinctively do whilst something grabs them via the tail), so i will no longer be able to think of that yet another lizard might understand what had basically got here approximately if yet another lizard dropped its tail. additionally the attacking lizard ought to easily be satisfied eating the tail through fact it quite is an undemanding meal so i think of they might use the comparable protection. additionally in line with the previous answer many lizards use their tails for a type of motives. some use it as a whip to take care of themselves and others use it to swim. I actually have a puppy crested gecko and that they've a prehensile tail that they might use to capture themselves in the event that they fall off a branch or to easily save themselves from falling. I even have even considered my crested putting the different way up from his tail.

I think you mean RE-generate its cut tail?
The base of lizards' tails contain cells that have NOT finished growing. These de-differentiated cells can continue to grow - thereby replacing cells that have been removed (as in when tail cut off)

It grows back slowly, like starfish legs, but the new one can't be removed again. It's a one-time trick.
