Here's my drawing:

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a305/dunric/bowie4.jpg

This is my first real drawing in about a decade (1997 or so). I received a "draw animals" style artbook and art supplies from my mom a year ago, but she's always wanting me to draw something for her for Christmas, so I drew a picture of my cat Bowie (based on a photograph I took of the cat).

I used a line grid to get everything fairly even and lined up, although even in the picture his eyes aren't quite the same size (I have no idea why).

Anyway, how does it look? Remember, I haven't drawn a serious drawing in almost a decade now. And prior to that, I hadn't drawn seriously since about 5 years earlier (1992).

I'm a sporatic artist. :)

The eyes are lovely - you spent a lot of time on those - but it looks like you wanted to finish the rest off too quickly! To complete it (and do justice to those eyes!) choose a light source - top left? - and use an eraser to pick out some highlights. Then add some shadow inside the ears, under the curves beneath the chin and tummy, also beneath the feet. That will make the cat look full, round and 3-dimensional.

Nice job, keep drawing!

Not bad, but a little more thought in composition would make even better. Like offsetting the cat to the right and adding a cat toy of some sort. I'm sure your mom will love it.

She'll love it. Just work on your texture and shading in the future. But for someone who hasn't drawn seriously in almost ten years, it's great.

The important thing in art is not to stare in from of each piece we do... keep going.
