You are not suppose to give a child cow's milk until they are a year old. Then it has to be whole milk.

Before that time you either breastfeed or give the baby formula. Cow's milk or Goat's milk is very low in iron and protein when compared to breastmilk or formula. That makes a differance when milk is the main staple of a child under one's diet. That is one of the main reasons why a child should not rely on either before one year of age.

A mom who doesn't breastfeed will get hounded by people who think she's a bad mother.

Seriously though...
If a mother doesn't breastfeed, she will have to use infant formula instead. Formula can be milk-based or soy-based and is designed to be very similar to breastmilk in calories and nutrients. Babies raised on formula turn out just fine.

Giving a baby under 1 year old cow's milk can cause internal bleeding because it's harder to digest.

if she is not breastfeeding then infanted formula is best like infamil and isomil and talk to a doctor to find the formula thats right for the baby babies can start cows milk when they are a year old if formula and other baby food is to expensive try getting the mother and child on wic at a local health department breast milk is the best though

Any dr will tell you that breastfeeding is VERY healthy for the baby b/c it builds up its immunities. However, formula today is full of vitamins and necessary stuff for a baby to grow up big and strong. Dr's do not reccomend giving cows milk until a baby is over a year old. Cows milk is an allergen, and does not supply the baby w/ the necessary nutrients.

Nothing will happen to the baby if you dont breastfeed it , but you cant give a baby cow milk or they will really be messed up.They have to be 12 mo. for cow milk. You give the baby formula the powdered kind or liquid.

You give the baby Powder Milk..Like Similac U mix it with water and thats about it. Its not as healthy as breast milk for the baby. And ya the baby could get allergies, get sick more often than other people that were breastfed when they were babies. and some other things.
