I just did a system scan on a freind's computer and access to this file was denied ... seems dodgy to me.

When your system goes into hibernation mode, the contents of the system RAM is written to that file. Access denied is correct; it's a system file.

It's denied because it is accessed in kernel mode only. AKA: It's a pertinent system file.
