Open any magazine, look at any tv ad. All the women are perfection, young and have no flaws. The more people are deluged with those type of images, the more society expects that to be the norm for all women. It can be a vicious circle for women who are insecure in their body or looks and want to be accepted and found to be pleasing to others...especially men who see that garbage and buy into it.

men are Visually and Physically stimulated.
therefore, the more "attractive" a woman may be to a man, the more desirable she is, and the more men she can Choose from.
this turns into an obsession based on continuously keeping the man interested.... especially when she gets dumped for another chick who's "hotter". if men started making an effort to make their women feel Attractive, and respect and encourage Positive personality traits such as being a good woman, respectable, caring, responsible, good mother and wife, etc, than she won't have to depend so much on how she Looks. but once she feels undesirable, unwanted, etc, she begins to obsess about her looks again! it's an endless cycle. guys we need ur help! :)

Some women believe as long as they look good, they can get a man or favor in whatever area they want it. They sell themselves short. Some men only want an arm trophy, so they are well suited. Unfortunately women who are busy checking themselves out and comparing/competing with other women will need constant reassurance about themselves and inside will still be insecure.

That's a silly question.
1. We don't want to look like crap.
2. We want to be attractive.
3. Because, in today's society, that's the way it is, you have to look your best or there's a lot of people who'll reject you because of the way you look.
It's not all women, but the majority of women are obsessed with their appearance.

Men are equally as obsessed with their apperance, but in different ways - hairstyles, sports cars, impressive-looking jobs, fu manchus, leather jackets, cowboy hats...et cetera. Actually, lots of men are very vain but their natural vanity keeps them from ever admitting it to themselves or others.

The fact that we have impossible standards to meet. Other women always look better than us or they try to and they try to steal our men and we got to hold on to what we have. Plus we think we're supposed to look a certain way in order to be "sexy" so we have to be that certain way or else we're just frumpy.

the fact that people always judge you based on that......I am somebody who is obsessed with the way I look I have admitted it before and will admit it now..it's also insecurities with me and thats a definite thing
