are they safe, how long do they last before costly repairs

May I refer you to the most recent J.D. Power & assoc. study?
The most recentl study was of 2003 vehicles that had been on the road for 3 years. This study lists 37 manufacturers in order of the least problems to the most problems .
I'll list in their order (Best to Worst)

As for the much acclaimed warranty......read it!
10year/100,000 mile warranty is LIMITED to 10,000 miles per year.
What if you happen to put 11,000 miles on in 11 months and then you have a problem? Guess what? You get nothing!

Need I go on to the safety issues?
I think I'll leave that up to some other answerer......

Prez say buy new kia. Prez say 10 year 100,000 mile warranty. Prez say keep up to date with your service. Prez say vehicle last at least 10 year or 100,000 mile before costly repairs. Prez say once vehicle that old and used, you want a new one anyway. Prez better know.

All cars are reliable if they are properly maintained and not abused. The best Kia is a new Kia.

Lube-Oil and Filter every 3000 miles, that is one of the best ways to keep your car running longer. Go the library and read April's edition of Consumer Reports. They are unbiased in their reporting.

get a honda or toyota if you want reliabilty, quality and economical gas consumption. dont get a hyundai my sis has one and a 3 hour drive guzzlez half a tank of petrol and its only a 1.3 or 1.2 not sure litre engine.
