Thats just the way the world works, I know a month after I turned 18 I got a tattoo... But its because its a law. That just makes me question how free freedom really is. But if we didnt have these laws in place 5 year olds would drink and get pregnant, not like thats not happening now but im sure its no where what it could be if these laws weren't in place.

why ask if you don't care about the answer?
Look, this is just life. And the conditions here make it illegal for you to get a tattoo. Stop worrying about "fair". Fair is not the game of life.
go to her with a more convincing argument. thats all you can do.
Or
you can find someone who will tattoo a minor. People do it. And then what can your mom do? Well, she can call the cops on the schmuck who did the tattoo (if you admit who) or she can just chill, she already accepts tattoos anyways. which is likely what she will do.
Tattoos are way overrated anyways....wait until you're in your mid 20's and you won't even care about em anymore. love you. peace

My dad was the same way. Usually they have reasons as to why they don't want you to get one, even if they don't tell you. I'm 19 now, and I got a tattoo the minute I turned 18! My parents actually like it, which I don't really understand because they were against me getting it in the first place. Just use the time before you turn 18 to figure out what you want and where you want it.

I agree and peirceings. I had to forge my parents signatures to get my peircings. I was able to get two tattoos from paying a guy 200 dollars extra for each. My mom still doesn't know i have the tattoo lol. I got it when i was 13.i have one tattoo on my waist like on the pant line (it's a bartskull like pete wentz's don't get it done there though you have to wear your pants either really high or low for a while) and the other on my wrist. (it is just a heart that looks like it was scribbled in)
And REALIST L. No company can fire a person for haveing a tattoo it is illegal. If it is covered at work they cannot.

You crack me up. There are more important 'rights' in life than whether or not you can get a tattoo. Worry about those.
With every 'right' that you obtain there is also a thing called 'responsibility'.
Ask yourself this: Can you afford to pay medical expenses if something goes horribly wrong with this 'engraving' of yours? Like getting some kind of flesh-eating disease or hepatitis or a hundred other things that could go wrong?
Granted the likelihood of this happening may be minuscule but it should force you to consider other long range things like 'Gee, I wonder if a future employer would look on this tattoo as a smart thing?'

In some areas you can get a tattoo before you are eighteen, but you need parental consent. Having many tattoos of my own, I think I can call myself an"expert". You are young, you may think you will want a tattoo now, but honestly wait! Because once it is on your skin, it isn't coming off. This is something you really have to think of because this is for life. Tattoos nowadays seem to be more of a fad than anything, a pissing contest or keeping up with the jones' type thing. Wait until you are 100% sure this is what you want, then if it still is on your mind, go for it. I do suggest you wait! Happy Holidays to you, Mark C.
p.s. Check out the Miami Ink website, they have alot of great advice. -cheers!

Okay, I know this girl Gloria, and at age 14 she has GLORIA tatooed on the right side of her leg. The tatooo artist was truthful with her. He said, " You're not through growing. As you grow, so will your skin and muscle mass. This tatoo will change its shape." She did it anyway. She's 23 now... and her leg looks like hell. Really.. no way she's wearing shorts, and she's a pretty girl. You're not through growing... so cool your jets and chew on that for awhile. You want some old disfigured tatoo when you're in your hot 20's with chicks everywhere??? You'll be trying to cover that thing up like a bad zit.

well if you consider your self to be a child of GOD and you have read the bible and know that it says not to pierce/tattoo the body and you trust GOD for everything then you also know that the bible say to OBEY honor and respect your parents for a long filled life then you will know what to do by the way you shouldnt look at what your mother has done like her tattoo for instant maybe when she got it she didnt know it was a sin whatever your parents weakness are that should be your strenght dont aim to be like your parents aim to be better than dont make the same mistakes she made be the opposite maybe you need to tell your mom that her tattoo is a sin and you are not going to get one i will tell you this from experince i have 9 tattoos my son wanted a tattoo so bad before he turned 18 i went to get this bomb job making big bucks i was denied for having a tattoo it hurted like hell to hear this man say i was overly qualified for the position that i went to school for 4 yrs.but because their company dont hire anyone with tattoos he couldnt hire me i have a job in the same field but not as much as this company was wiiling to pay me with the same skills a frien of mines had a tattoo on her back she seen her boss in the mall she had her back out and the next day she was fired because of her tattoo that isnt even shown while at work due to the uniform but on the application they asked and she said no and she had one every job may not be willing to hire you because they can say that your tattoo is an offence to their company, employees,or the public so stay free of tattoos oh by the way my son is now 23 and no tattoos he seen from my experince how it can be damaging and he knows what GOD word says about tattoos i didnt know GOD when i did this and no one never told me

Actually, it might not be fair, but life's not about fair. It's not about you being allowed to do what you want just because you see adults do it, even your own parents. There are legal age limits on certain things; once you reach that age, I seriously doubt your mom will have a problem with you getting a tattoo.

Sorry dude. You can't possibly make a life long decision like that for yourself before you're legal. You're free to do what you want when you get older, just keep checking out shops and see what you like now, then go back every year and just see how much your taste changes. You'll be glad you didn't go make a rash decision at this age.
