Public education, who would want to abolish the communist education system in the U.S.. It has worked so well in producing huge numbers of dumbed down citizens. I see no reason to stop now!

No, we need public education. We should make sure every kid has a chance to at least have a shot in life. No one has a crystal ball to figure out who will be a nasa enginere and who will be working as a laborer so we should give the building blocks to all. And lets face it, America needs everyone of its citizens on par with the world. We cannot afford as a nation to fall behind, public education is one tax cost I can agree with.

It shouldn't be abolished, but they way education is paid for should be reformed. The simple reform I advocate is having education funding follow the student, not the school. That way parents would decide what school to send their kids to, not the government. That should include allowing parents to send their kids to religious schools if they so desire.
I suspect such a system would result in the closing of a lot of failing public schools, and the opening of more private schools, which would be a good thing for students, but a bad thing for poor teachers who keep their jobs soley because of the powerful teachers union.

My husband and I pay $4000 a year to send my son to a private school....why should people that do not have children...and those that pay for a private education pay for other kids to go to school through the tax system??? I think that all school systems should be funded privately...I am tired of paying through the nose for all of these social services set in place to take care of others irresponsibilty.
If you can't afford to have a kid...and raise them correctly...DON'T HAVE ANY!!!

No. Education is a basic right in our civilization. It is important for all Americans to have some uniformity in their education. Otherwise there are nutjobs out there that will teach their kids all sorts of garbage (see religious fanatics) that has no bearing on life in the real world.

I'm guessing you don't have children. Not everyone can afford private education, idiot. My husband and I do send our kids to private school, but we work our butts off through our own business to afford it. It's very hard to do, especially when you're trying to save for college as well. Not that you would know, I'm sure.
What's wrong with some people working at McDonalds? At least they are working and not leeching off my tax dollars.

yes as it is right now. i would like to see it on a local level if it were feasible.
but, i wouldn't send my kids (if i had any) to public school for anything. i would work 24/7 if i could manage it just to pay to send them to a decent private school.

No. It should just be reworked so that t works better. Texas has had public education on its Senate agenda for 20 years now and nothing has been done.

the sad part of public education is that the radical leftists of the 50's and 60's are now tenured profs and teachers indoctrinating kids to their way of thinking...keep an eye on what your kids learn and challenge these anti-americans as much as you can...

Yeah. F*** You.
While we're at it, let's get rid of the police... why would we want to help protect the bank when they can afford to hire their own armed lunatics? Why would we want to create order in society when they're just going to smoke crack and shoot eachother anyway? If you can't afford a security fence and armed guards, why should we pay to protect you when you're just going to die someday anyway? Why have an army, for that matter? Or pay for road repairs? If you can't afford to repair your own roads, then you can't drive. We also don't need these stupid soup kitchens. If you can't afford to eat, you should starve. If you can't afford to live, why did you split your cells and grow into a fetus and be born?
