If you know how to care for it and train it then go on. Also make sure that where u live will except it.

Most of these are excellent answers but I wanted to add that iguanas are not beginner reptile pets. They need a very varied diet, UV and appropriate ambient heat, and lots of room. There's a ton of info available on them, do your research!
Unfortunately, these guys are very cheap and sadly, considered disposable. I can't tell you how many times I heard someone say that their iguana died, but that's okay, they're cheap and they want another one.
There are easier lizards to take care of! Green anoles, leopard geckos, bearded dragons, schneiders skinks...take a gander at those.

hi there
yes iguana's are not bad pets but they can get up to 6 feet long depending on the type of ig and u need a large encloser for it ..or let it run around the house ... once it grows out of it's cage ... u can train them with time a patients to do there business in the a littler box ... the eat nothing but veggies and fruits..(don't feed and meat or insect they can not digest protien). u need a heat lamp (not a heat rock) and a UV light ... they love to swim more info on my website under lizards section... we rescue ig's and had 6 at one time in our home...

be absolutely sure you can handle feeding, lighting heating, etc. iguanas are a huge responsibillity and be prepared for the committment of a 6' long lizard with razor teeth and a tail like a club getting pissed at you annually. before you make any decisions i sugest you read EVERYTHING in this article directory:

In some states you need to have a licences to own one. I owned one for 5 years and they are very hard to take care of. They cost alot of money in vet bills. If you really want one and are will to take the time to care for it and spend the money then there ok to have as a pet.

yes, but do lots of research, and know the health hazards that they can cause, such as the e-coli bacteria, and make sure to keep them, their cage, and yourself clean. Always be sure to wash your hands after handling, and if I may suggest it,contact your local animal rescue, they may have one that has been abandoned, that you can go a visit with to see if its the pet for you.

If you are prepared to care for a 6 foot lizard, then go ahead. If not, please do not buy a tiny one and then toss it away when it gets too big.
