If i transfer my hd drive (from my comp) to a new comp...will the os still intact (with all the files inside it) or i've to download a new os?

if you bought a pre-made computer from a company such as Dell, HP, or E-Machines, you have the OEM version of Windows. You will have to buy a new license for your operating system to install it on another computer. Windows will detect a different motherboard and force you to pay for it. It will work for 30 days before locking the files.

if you bought the retail (boxed) version of Windows, you can install it on another computer, but you have to uninstall it from your old one.

Yes, the files will be intact but will not boot because the registry will not synch. Install it as a slave, Or do a fresh install of the os.

Yes, but you may have to re-activate WinXP. The mobo and processor will be different from the original machine, and WinXP will recognize this fact and require a re-activation.
