Voluntary simplicity is already popular outside the US. Zen philosophy and minimalism has been gaining ground for years. It's been particularly popular in the design, art and architecture fields.

Believe it or not, even the marketers are catching on. In one study, they found that people bought less when faced with too much choice. In this era of information overload, people are trying to find ways to make their lives simpler.

Zero.

I will shop on Buy-Nothing Day if there is even the most remote chance stores will be less crowed.

I have zero desire for voluntary simplicity. I like my toys and will continue to buy them.
