The most under-reported story during the year was the death of Marlon Brando. I would not consider myself to have been a huge fan of his, however; with regard to his talent his accomplishments were many. Mr. Brando played character rolls in movies that represented what America was experiencing for that time and the only difference between us (his audience) and Mr. Brando is that he played it much better. It is possible that Mr. Brando was a maverick in the movie industry and for that reason he may not have been appreciated by his peers and industry leaders. Since his loss, l have noticed actors that are still living being honored for their acting abilities and sadly enough when playing similar character rolls they lacked the attention physically and mentally that Mr. Brando once displayed.

So there you have it! truly an under-reported story for year 2006.

He was a good actor. But let's assume he died in 2006 for the sake of discussion... I think there were much more important issues that were under reported. Say... federal deficit. Genocide. Civil war in Iraq. Things that kind of will actually matter in a couple of years. I understand the importance of the entertainment industry (I love it myself, as I myself am in a band), but it just shouldn't be what we worry about. The real heroes are the ones who try to report that stuff I mentioned, but get their stories cut from production because it doesn't fit into a good advertising model. But...Marlon Brando owned. Especially since his last name was 86% of my first name.

Not only has it been 3 or 4 years since Brando's death, but his representing "what America was experiencing for that time and the only difference between us (his audience) and Mr. Brando is that he played it much better), is really a huge Overstatement. I for one am not, have not and do not know of a 'mafia crime lord', 'an alien pollitition from another planet' or any of the other character's he's played. You want to believe he played 'the every man' but in fact, he just didn't. His roles were always bloated. He's done 2 memorable movies in the past 30 years! Maybe that's why it took you this many years to realise he was already dead...lol

Except Marlon Brando died July 1, 2004, thus why it is under-reported

Brando was one of the best! I put him in the same league as Steve McQueen, and John Wayne. He added a down to earth attitude to all his roles, and was able to put himself fully into whatever he did on screen.

His death was rated and honored at the Academy Awards with their normal condolences, but as the other reponses do remind you, he died 2 1/2 years ago. Have you travelled back in time for some reason?

Brando's death was a pretty big deal when it happened. I don't know where you've been.
