This is one way of doing it: AIM virus is a category of computer virus spread over by AIM (American Online Instant Messenger). They are the combination of computer virus and spyware. Once infected, your will experience the unstopped pop-ups, a slower machine, and passwords leak to Internet crackers. At the same time, Aim virus start to attack everybody on your AIM friend list.

How to know whether you are infected by an AIM virus? The only way you get infected is through AIM messages. When you receive something like “I can’t believe I found somebody’s picture here HAHAHA” or something similar from your friend and click it, you probably are infected. Also when your friends tell you you are sending some similar messages to them, it’s confirmed.

How to get rid of AIM virus manually: Simply follow the process below.
1) Press the CTRL ALT and DEL keys at the same time to bring up the task manager.
2) Click on the processes tab (windows 2000/XP), and find “b.exe” or “av.exe” and kill the process.
3) Go to C:Windows and delete “b.exe” and “bbb.exe” or “av.exe” (If you are unsure where this is, go to “My Computer, then click on “Local Disk C:” and then open the folder called “Windows”or “Winnt” if you are on Windows 2000)
4) Click Start, then click on Run, type in “Msconfig” in the box and press ENTER..

When the box comes up, click on the “startup” tab and look for “b.exe” or “av.exe” listed (probably labeled as “antivirus”) then uncheck the box on the left of it. (Windows 98/XP only)

5) Finally, do not forget to remove the link from your profile.
