I have been diagnosed to have torn Meniscus in my right knee. My left knee also pains a little. While I am a IT professional but play table tennis and lawn tennis as a hobby. I can do may day to day activities without any problem, but unable to play tennis or play soccer with my son. I can still play table tennis, but not that aggressively. Is it better for me :
1. to get a surgery done and get into by hobbies fully or
2. shall I continue with what I can do and not to try harder things
3. Change my lifestyle and avoid aggressive sports activities

The only person that can make this decision is you. A few things to keep in mind when making your decision. Surgery is not gaurnanteed, and you will have to go through a rehab process. Things may or may not be any better in the end. In my experience, the younger population usually has a better recovery with this type of procedure, although this is not research proven. The other thing is that a meniscus tear will not heal itself. Because it is a loose flap, it is very unpredictable and can be fine for long periods, but suddenly come back with a vengence. You have some thinking to do. Good luck.

The research shows no one treatment is cosistently better over another (PT, cortisone injections, or surgery). I personally hate treating people with meniscus tears in PT because there is no good way to predict who will do well with conservative care, and who will eventually need surgery. To say the least, I would try all conservative options prior to surgery. Many times changing to lower impact sports for a period of time is enough to break up the pain and inflammation cycle and you are still able to keep fit and may or may not be able to return to tennis at a later date.

I had surgery that shaved off the flap of torn meniscus that was preventing me from full movement. I have full use and range of motion of my knee now, but it still has aches and pains, especially when it is damp outside. Sort of damned if you do, damned if you dont
