First of all it depends on the type of movie. If it is a movie like lord of the rings or eragon or a similair type of movie with a lot of visual effects in it than it might take a few years. The movie 'inside man' only took about a month to complete and jodie foster completed her parts within a few weeks. So it just depends on the type of movie and if it is animated or not. Animated movies can take a VERY long time. Hope this helps!!

Principle shooting can take as little as three months with post production taking anout four to five months.
Some can take longer (Apocalypse Now took three years, on and off), some can take shorter (original Little Shop of Horrors took two days).
Animation takes 3-4 years

About 200 feet. No, seriously, from conception to release can take anything from two years to forever. Just the filming can take up to six months, though most are done in less.
