The real Christmas has already gone out of fashion. Jesus's birth has been replaced with a fat man in a red suit, terrible holiday music, and an obsession with receiving gifts.

christmas is not a statement of fashion, althought is is hyped up by the retail industry, its a time for family and togetherness, at least for the lucky ones, so in my moment as the 'good samaritan' please spare a thought this chistmas for all the children who are less fortunate across the world and also all the soldiors currently serving in iraq who wont be coming home for christmas this year.

Very unlikely since retailers will want to make money out of you. Hence they will try ways and means to tempt you.
On the consumers' part, most people will have their bonuses and it may be good to get something for some love ones and also for yourself.

Not while people endlessly produce more and more spawn to pester them to death to buy them expensive crap.
Lets face it, christmas is nothing more than a few days off work, getting pissed and spending a fortune, it has no relevance to the old novel anymore.

We've been celebrating at this time of year for at least 4,000 years, and calling it Christmas for nearly 1,700. It should continue for a few more years yet.
