So much of what we have in the developed countries is non-essential NOW! Who needs 2 SUV's - or even one when a Corolla will do, or a Fiesta or a hybrid so that the oil is less consumed.
Or malpractice? that is a NONESSENTIAL if ever I heard of anything. Sham. and shame too.
All we need is peace, food, shelter and clothes, and a relationship with a Higher Power. I call mine God in the traditional Christian sense of it.
We have SOOOOoooooooo much that is non-essential that it is obscene, and many places do not even have the essentials and are DYING folks, dying from their lack. Do something!

Pretty much anything invented 5 years ago or before!
Technology is moving so quickly, and so much could be created in 5 years we've know way of knowing what could go out of date by then!
iPods, digital cameras, CD's, landline phones, analogue TV, VHS...
Possibly more radical things though - what about wires? Is it entirely impossible for - in 5 years time - everything to have become wireless?
Who knows.

Digital cameras, iPods it will all be in a newer smart phone. They have networking down with 3G and bluetooth and already have taken over photo capturing (currently 80%+ of digital cameras), and soon video as well. In five years, all phones will also serve as physical presence devices as well.
