You are right, they are underated. I think if they keep it up (and with Y/A's help lol) they could make it big!

When you think about music, then you have gotta look back at Mr John Peel.

John Peel loved the Pixies, I think even when he interview Frank Black (1991 ish - Tromp le monde times), called him one of his hero's. Now thats high praise.

Underated. Well absolutely, however there is as i'm sure/hope, will come out, not so underated. Ask these new bands who they were inspired by and im sure many will say the Pixies in amongst other bands.

Great body of work, better than Nirvana, but not as varied as the Beatles though. Perhaps not the most experimental, but still guitars and a rock and roll atittude.
Alas I've never seen them. But thats what you get for growing up in the west country.

Maybe underated by the up and coming kids of a new generation, but much appreciated by those who fought along with them to take out the hairband power ballad singers of the 80's. I also agree with the poster who said their would not have been a Nirvana if not for the Pixies. I also think they would agree of course except for Curt, but he would more than likely would if he were alive.

The Pixies were great. That one about 'slicing up eyeballs ha ha ha ha' related to the file Un Chien de Andalou' or somethinglike that.

Load of their lyrics were about space and UFO's: Velouria, The one tht goes 'They've got a ranch they call 51' and loads of Tromple le Monde the names of which escape me.

I liked them because they were a bit mad. Unlike Nirvana they weren't overrated. We need more mad people making music; listnen to some Pixies and go and form a band kids, please!

Yeah sure. I've been a fan for about 15 years. I never thought of them as underrated since most people I know love them. I like them more than Nirvana. I finally got to see them in Dec 2004.

*I remember them being extremely popular in the early 90s. I thought of them as mainstream back then. A lot of people seemed to forget about them for awhile but when they had the reunion, people started talking about them again.

Pixies are one of the greatest, and most underrated (by the record-buying public at least) bands of the last 20 years. I think maybe they were a bit too quirky for mainstream success, but, hey, that's why i love them!

They are not underrated. They are one of the most influential bands of the last 20 years. There would be no Nirvana without them.

seen them 5 times, got all the albums and twelve inch tracks,I
like the fact they are underestimated.nirvana didn't invent jack,
the minutemen,or sonic youth were better than nirvana. They
just got lucky, the pixies were massive in the nineties then
black Francis split the band and released a solo album.I saw
the last gig at crystal palace bowl when ride played they were
awesome.

They were great, they got back together for a tour last year or the one before that cause they ran out of money (I heard!). All that old music is the best, how about the Violent Femmes........, how understated are they, no-one even knows of them here in UK!

I saw them in concert once. They opened for U2 in Chicago in the Achtung Baby Tour.

I thought they were great.
