If someone hands you a gift, allows you to open it, and then takes it back to keep or return?

Are you including everything here? I somehow doubt it. It seems to me that maybe you made some remark about the gift they gave you when you opened it and saw what it was. So they took it back, with either the intent of keeping it for themselves or returning it, since you obviously didn't want it.

I love the way people will phrase questions in order to get the responses they want, and others tend to not see what they are doing.

WHAT? nobody has done that to me, but if this person did this to me, I'd say, "why did you give me this gift by the way? Was it for me or you? and why did I open it?"
