Let's see:
Wang 26 - Good sinker ball pitcher 19 wins last year
Mussina 38 - Consistent but older 15 wins last year
Pettitte 34 - Got 14 wins on a team with bad run support. He will get run support in New York.
Johnson 43 - 17 wins last year. Coming off of back surgery. We shall see what he has left in the tank.
Kei Igawa 27 - Has not officially signed yet. Still working out details. Must be signed by 12/28

With this group the bull pen will have to be better than last year which was rocky at times.

The runs will be there as usual.

NO!! You call that great pitching?? Pettite is all washed up. His record with Houston was just awful. Mussina is getting old but is the only quality pitcher on the staff. Wang may come through again. Igawa is untested. Randy Johnson has lost his edge and is an average pitcher at best right now. They will NOT even win their division, never mind the World Series this year. Their pitching is their weakness and is FAR from being GREAT!!

Chow!!

I wouldn't say they have "great" pitching but they do have good enough pitching to win. As long as Wang, Mussina, Pettitte, and the Yankees offense can carry them in the ALDS Randy Johnson will be focused and pitch dominating again. Johnson has a track record of having bad Division Series, I think those three starters have enough and with their offense they will make it past the ALDS this year and then they have the experience factor on their side. Wang, Moose, Pettitte, and Unit have all won a playoff game, everyone but Wang has pitched in the the Championship series and World Series, Pettitte and Unit have both led their teams to a WS victory. Right now their pitching staff is set up good to get them passed the hump, and even when they aren't on their best they still have the high octance offense.

Of course. My new motto is "27 in 2007" for the New York Yankees. They have got Wang, who was a solid pitcher this year, coming in 2nd place for the AL Cy Young. They've got the new Japanese pitcher Kei Igawa who will dominate, the Moose Mike Mussina, The Big Unit Randy Johnson, and the 2nd newest member of the team, the former Yankee Andy Pettitte who will dominate a lot next year. 2007 is the 21st century year for the New York Yankees.

Except for Wang (who may be an anomaly) and Igawa, the rest are all old guys who's best years are behind them. Look at the bullpen too, because Rivera, while really good, has become less super-human than during their run in the late 90s.

So no, I don't think the Yankees will make it to the Series.

I wouldn't go quite so far as to call their pitching great. The Dodgers with Koufax and Drysdale or the O's with Palmer, McNalley, Cuellar and Dobson (all 4 had 20 wins) had great pitching. Admittedly using those standards you would be about as likely to find a team with great pitching now as finding a cow on the moon. In any case they stand a fine chance as usual of making the post season and as was so aptly demonstrated last year by the Tigers and Redbirds once you're there anything goes.

Most people are saying if they want it to happen because they hate or like the Yankees.Me I am a Yankee fan I want the Yankees to go to the world series.I think the Yankees will not go to the world series. There pitching staff is good but the problem is the bullpen. If they get a great bullpen they will make it to the world series with there starters and explosive offense. If they work on there bullpen in the next few years they can make it to the world series.

I think they have a good chance but I think its to early to tell who will make it to the world series right now.

If they play the Angles no they can never beat them...You don't know if their "good" rotation will be healthy all year or at least when it counts....Their players are old and they let Sheffield go very stupid move...
