some times the pain is so great from a blood test the person just dies from the pain . the medical people don't mention this since no one would take the test if they knew just how deathly awful the pain is. most people faint . some die of fear. the others
about 50 % have there eyes pop out from the shock of the great huge needle. this is why we have blind people .
the rest of the people the ones who do make it out without permanent injury are sworn to never speak of the great pain or else the doctors will all right notes that state the person must be put in the hospital mental ward for the rest of there life .
other then that its just fine i hope you are one of the lucky ones who makes it out alive if not well you must have had a good life at least sometimes just remember the good times that will calm you and might just help you survive this most awful and painful of medical tests .

Just had one 4 days ago.
A band will be tied around the bicep area to accentuate a vein to puncture with a needle(just a slight sting). Enough blood is drawn to fill 1-4 vials. Then a piece of cotton is typically placed on puncture would and bandaged.
No big deal at all !! don't worry...very quick procedure.

The key to a blood test is relaxation. The more relaxed your muscles and arm is the less you feel. I have a blood test every month and have learned that the more relaxed your arm is the less you feel and a small pinch, or prick is all you feel. If you are tense about the test just practice now so that when the time comes you will know what to do. I relax my arm and say relax, relax as I take a deep cleansing breath. Practice this and when the day comes take a deep cleansing breath and say relax, relax to yourself as you let your arm relax. Afterwards you will wonder what all the fuss was about.

NO it doesn't HURT... there is a slight pinch when the needle enters, and that is IT. To "practice".. pinch your skin on your inner arm at your elbow between your nails. Others had good thoughts of looking away, holding a stuffed animal, etc.
I flew for the US Navy for 15 yrs and probably endured 40 to 50 blood tests over the years. I was also an EMT and did several HUNDRED to others.

i think it depends on where they take the blood sample from and how you feel about needles.
when i donate blood from the forearm, i always ask for the butterfly needle since its the smallest. for me, there is a stinging pinching sensation but it doesn't last very long.
it does help to drink a lot of liquids (water) before hand, just cuz it helps your veins expand. it's a common minimal procedure and not so bad really. just relax and you'll be fine =)

it will feel like a sting but don't look at the site of injection sometimes they can put a numbing medicine a few minutes before they are ready for you so ask ahead of time. in case they don't think about other things don't be to curious and and statr looking where there going to prick you be strong and before you know it it will be done. oh another thing dont get too scared because your veins will hide

Its a creepy feeling having a needle stuck in your arm for that long.... They leave it in for like 5-10 minutes, 'til they get enough of your blood out... I hate them. Good luck!!
One suggestion... Don't look at the needle... Think of other things, and you wont notice it.... But I always look at my needle in the hopes that I'll get used to it... But it never works, yet still I try. Anyways... It's easiest not to look

it doesnt sting and it doesnt hurt, unless you pay attention to it. my suggestion would be to flex your arm that the IV is NOT in, and relax the other arm. focus on flexing the arm that the IV ISNT in. Then after, dont stand up to fast! (thats what i did and almost passed out from low blood sugar)
