So here's the deal, I let my b/f use my car to go to work today, not saying he did anything to screw it up, but it was working fine before that.
I have a 2000 Chevy Malibu, The heater won't work, and the car is over heating. What the hell is going on, I just checked the anti freeze, it was low, so that solved the over heating problem, but whats with the heater? The air works fine.

first of all, find out why you lost antifreeze. next, did you bleed the air out of the system in the approved manner? most newer GM engines have bleeder screws on the water pump and thermostat housing. a good repair book will tell you how to do this, might be in the owners manual. it sounds like you have an air pocket that has worked it's way up to your heater core. it is VERY important to get the air out. if you don't you could damage the heads on the engine. sounds like the b/f should've stepped up, been a man, and told you the car broke down while he was using it. have him pay for repairs and don't let him use it in the future until he is "old" enough to drive. good luck with the car, and him.

If the car had not been overheating prior to this event I would suspect the thermostat. Even if it was ok prior to it has been cooked and I would replace it just to be sure....Not to expensive... The reason that you have no or minimal heat, most likely, is there is air in the heater system..Make sure whoever replaces the thermostat bleeds the system. When the engine is hot the two heater hoses should be unbearably hot...If one is colder than the other there is air in it.....

Your heater controls are electronic, there is a valve under the dash in the heater box that is controled, when the controls go bad, the valve wont either. Its stuck open letting the cold air in.

The car heater may have an air embolism (air blockage), let the car get warmed up and it should clear it's self.

the cheapest problem that could be wrong with it is your thermostat is bad and needs to be replaced. no less that 10 dollar fix. or it could be your heater core a bit more costly and the most costly is you have a hole in your radiator. good luck and i hope it is the thermostat. good luck and happy holidays=)

It may be the heater core -- is there antifreeze on the front passenger floor?
You bf did not do this, it goes out when it wants to.

Yeah, funny how it was OK before you let some yokel use your car.
Dump the BF, and head for the dealer for this minor problem

Sounds like your b/f drove the sh.. out of your poor little car and overheated it.
You might wanna top up the coolant (antifreeze) and see if it occurs again for you.
