I want to play PC game with opponent over the internet but I need to get an ip address to do so. Because I am on a wireless router at home I don't seem to be able to get an ip address for my PC. How do I overcome this?

Make sure you have DHCP turned on. You can assign IP's to yourself manually but DHCP will do it automatically when it's enabled. Also make sure DHCP client is turned on on your computer as well. Some games may require you to forward the port to that game through your router. Go to the game forums and search for port forwarding to find out what port to open.

Read the manual to obtain the default IP address to the router. Most are 192.168.0.1 or similar to that
