Yes is the short answer. Sim free phones tend to be more expensive and need to be manually setup. If you bought say a Nokia N73, on vodafone or 3 then it will work straight out of the box but a simfree phone will need to be configured, and if you're putting in a PAYG (pay as you go) simcard most of the features wont work, because they are mostly setup for pay monthly. I have a Nokia N73 on the uk 3 netwok, To buy this phone simfree its gonna cost you between £400-500, if you get the pay monthly you get free texts, free minutes free downloads, video calls, and the monthly tariff is £17.50 for 6 months rising to £35.00 after that.

I agree with Scarlet... Lidl is THE best place to get a mobile phone SIM free - last week they had a SonyEricsson K750i for something like £80. All you then have to do is buy yourself a SIM from £5.

If you buy a new one sim free you can put any sim card in it, the only exception is that you can only put a 3 sim card into a 3g phone.

Yep. carphone warehouse sell simfree phones & so do www.pixmania.com. It tends to be more expensive to buy simfree but you dont get all the branding cr@p on it. I have a sim free nokia & I love it
