Paul was the first to leave S Club 7, in June 2002, declaring his dislike of pop music and the highly commercialised world of pop in general. After leaving S Club he rejoined his old school nu-metal band Skua. However, Skua split up before they’d even started and Paul vanished into obscurity until early 2005 when he re-emerged as the lead singer and songwriter of a rock band called Charlie Bullitt. Throughout most of 2005 the group have performed in a number of clubs and pubs in such places as London, Brighton and Aberdeen - but so far they have failed to attract any significant attention. However, in October 2005 Paul left the group on friendly terms.
In a interview in 2006 Paul said that he hated being in a manufactured band and may never do a reunion. Paul also revealed during the interview that he has a younger cousin called Lee Cattermole, who plays professional football for Middlesbrough FC.
He split up with Hannah Spearritt in early 2006.

I love thier cd any way this is what happend
Ex-S Club member Paul says he's quitting the group because his future lies with a nu metal band.
Paul said he prefers rock to pop, and wants to try and make a success of the new group.
Click here to find out what S Club will do now
The band is called Skua - and Paul was a member when he was at school, before he became an S Clubber.
Paul and Hannah are still together
Now he's going back, even though Skua don't have a record deal - yet.
Paul told the Sun newspaper: "There are no bad feelings but I want to go back to my rock roots.
If I don't give this a go I would never forgive myself. It is something I've got to do for me."
But he says he's had a fantastic time over the past few years with S Club.
And it's not all over for the other six.
They've all signed new contracts, and have promised to stay together.
They say they won't get a new member - and will rename themselves plain 'S Club'.
