How do I get the closest to the "Hollywood letters" driving?

i can't remember the name of the road, but there is is one that go'es up there. and there is a small park up there, you can park there and sit at picnic table up behind the letters. i have been there. if i ever go back to there i wont ever go down the hill to them again. it was way to hard to get back up.
