The Florida kingsnake is a good bet from the pictures in my book. If so it is a baby. They are born at 16." They stay fairly slim and get up to 82."

The Florida cottonmouth is also a possibility and it would also be a baby. They get bulkier as they get older.

If id have to guess id say rat snake or Prarie (mole) king or maybe some kind of water snake.

Oh that sounds like a blotched king. (goini). If you google blotched king you will see several pictures.

I am partial to the blotched king, my Elvis is one! He's a wonderful snake.
