It is actually very pretty. I see what you're saying but still it is pretty.
It's the name of one of the children in The Sound of Music, too.

I like the name Liesel, I don't associate it with a Diesel engine at all. I went to school with a Liesel, and there is actually a well-known swimmer here (Australia) by that name

A baby name is a very important and personal choice, but if you're not 100% sure then it may be best to reconsider, as it's too late once the baby has been named.
Liesel? Sounds fine to me, but see how it goes with your surname. If you really like it, but still aren't sure; have it as a middle name. Besides, does it really matter what a bunch of strangers on the web think? But consider age and fashions, remember a name is with you for life.

Sounds like the name of one of the Von Trapp kids in The Sound of Music. I think it sounds fine.
