Oh my gosh I am in such pain.I'm 26 wks pregnant and this has already been going on a month.I know they say this is common but is also common that when you sneeze or sit or lean over the pain is more intense?I still have 3 mths left of this.Is it just gonna get worse? The only time it feels better is when im stretched out on my right side with my arm above my head.(it's on my right ribs)This is my first pregnancy and I probably sound like a big baby so can some experienced mothers help me out.Thank you.

Not uncommon. I had this with all three of mine.... (soon to be four! I am due in April.. and it has already started) It is just probably just everything growing and stretching and pushing up on your lungs. Later on (past 30 weeks or so) I could actually move the baby out of the way.. all three of mine seemed to like to hide in my ribs. Sounds gross but just take your hand where the pain is and push down towards your naval. It will help re adjust everything and give you a few minutes of relief.

My sons ribs were in my ribs on the left side during pregnancy, ouch, very uncomfortable. As well as the rubbing down, get on hands and knees and stretch as well as you can, (push chest toward ground, bum in air) Doing this a few times a day for a minute or so helps to align baby properly for delivery'

did you get an ultra sound to confirm that the baby is in your ribs ? there are other problems, potentially serious ones that can seem similar to that kind of pain. I came down with HELLP syndrome. I had a pain that felt like a gas bubble in my ribs, and it turned out it was my liver shutting down....
i would call the doctors office and see if they can give you any advise.

im just over 40 weeks and for me everything has got alot worse im affraid. I sleep 1-2 hours a night due to fetal movements and groin pains and havin to go to toilet constantly but 1 thing is better i have no rib issues. You trade one problem for another.

Just cushion yourself with pillows and find a comfortable position thats all you can do im affraid.

good luck

A good solution is to sit on an exercise ball...bounce softly and push down like the last person suggested....it will cause the baby to move around and this is safe...and helps to strengthen your back too...it worked for me...my daughter was always in my ribs...I just manipulated her to move around. Good luck.

This happened to a good friend of mine all the time. She said the only way she got any sleep was to sleep in the recliner, then he couldn't "crawl" up there as easily as when she laid down. Didn't have this problem, so don't have any idea if this helps. At this point, what have you got to lose? BEST of luck!!!

this happened to me too. The baby got in my ribs and it hurt so bad it was crazy. Nothing relieves it. I mean just the way you lay and stretch, but yes it only gets worse.

For me the pain stayed about the same, unless there was kicking involved. Just wait in a matter of no time you will have a wonderful bundle of joy and you will forget all about the pain it caused.

Can't help, can just sympathize. Been there. My son would stretch up under my ribs. Very painful. Sometimes I could push on him and he would move, but not often.

my son did the same thing but always on my left side. every time i would lay down, he;d roll over and get in a tight knot right under my ribs. man it hurt and i'd rub and gently push on him until he'd move. my daughter never did that. you know, even now, he sleeps on his left side.
