Make sure the glow plugs have time to heat up before you turn over the engine, or let them heat up then turn off the ignition and let them heat up again.

Try switching your headlamps on before and during the start up operation. I've read somewhere that the extra resistance in the electrical system helps the glow plugs to warm up more quickly.
I know it sounds odd, but it must be worthy of a try?

I have a pajero, and its the same, the plugs are ok as are the injectors, the guy in my garage recons its the plugs even though they are fine, he says that there is only the minimum power to them, he has suggested that he put a separate higher circuit and i will not have any more problems, I get the black smoke as well in the cold but not when warm

sounds like a glow plug problem but could also be a weak battery but you could try getting an additive for diesel i use Redex diesel injector additive in the tank and never have a problem

Try using Winter diesel. Doesn't wax up like regular at low temperatures.
