Currently, I am a Junior in High School and my dream schools I would love to attend are Stanford University or Brown, however there are times when I look at the competition that’s out there and I worry. So, if there are any experts out there, do u think I am Stanford Material or even Brown material at least?

First the good news -- since you are now taking AP classes, your GPA will be above 4.0 when you graduate if you keep doing as well as you have. That is impressive, as is your rank in class. You will certainly be able to get into a number of very good universities -- and maybe a great one.

Now the bad news -- 75% of the people accepted at those schools have a SAT score in the 2100 range.

If you expect to get into either of those schools, you have to raise your SAT scores. Your GPA says that you should be able to do that. Consider taking an SAT prep class. If you can raise each portion between 100-150 points, you will be very attractive to most schools. If you are unable to make a big leap, you need to address your SAT scores in your statement of purpose.

Brown is probably the easiest of the Ivies to get into -- so your chances there are better there than at Stanford (which may be the most selective school in the country).

Someone else here loves California and says to choose Stanford for that reason. I will give the opposite advice. I hated California and love New England (I got my PhD at Berkeley and now work in Boston).

there both great colleges but if your sat scores aren't the greatest can you get into either of them? when picking a college to attend look at all aspects is it close to or far from where I live? How far from your home do you want to be, is this college offering the material you want to major in, dorm arraignments a friendly environment and so forth.

Brown is easier.

If you are a champion water polo player, Stanford might take you with average SATs before Brown.
