I am on a salery, And i have been told that he must pay me, & that he can't charge these days to Vacation time. Is this true? and who can i call to find out? Or where can i find this in writeing to show to my employer? (I can't live on $30.00 a day!!!!!)

They don't have to pay you but they can't make you use vacation time either.

Call your county clerk's office, or use the contact number that was included in your jury questionaire. Your boss must let you serve if you are chosen and cannot charge it off as vacation or sick days. However, he is not required to pay you for the days that you miss. Sad as it is, the stipend from the government is considered equitable.

If I'm right, He has to let you do Jury duty, and he can NOT charge you a day, but I'm thinking he doesn't have to pay you... I might be wrong, Contact your human resources dept.

Here in Michigan, the rules are mostly the Fed rules on the subject.

I had one employer who forced me to take personal days (a**hole!).

I had one employer who paid me, minus the $30 per day. That made more sense.

i was never payed for wen i was on jury duty, but my boss never counted it toward vacation either
