That's like asking Rush Limbaugh to quit his pain-pills cold-turkey... Maybe just give up on them, if the facts haven't made an impression on them yet, reason never will.
Sometimes witty ridicule will embarass people into self-examination. I'd sit down with them and watch some South Park and Da Ali G show. If they don't laugh, there is no hope.

I would say, "GW, have you been down to Crawford lately? Have you noticed how it's 85 degrees out on December 19th?"
No, seriously, your family member needs to wake up and smell the air pollution! Does she think NASA is in on it? They did a comprehensive study after 9/11 when all of the planes were grounded, and found that not only was the weather affected, but for the first time many people could actually see the night sky!
With all honesty, you cannot convince someone who has made up their mind about something, even if they are an otherwise reasonable person, so maybe you should just back off, and know in your heart that you are right...
GOOD LUCK, whatever your decision!

You can give them facts. If they still think it's a "leftist conspiracy," just say, "You can deny the facts all you want. Just wait until it's too late...you'll see then." Or you can tell them that some rightists also know global warming is true(don't most people?).

I dont know if i buy into Al Gores worse case scenario on global warming, but to deny it exists all together and say its a liberal conspiracy is just ignorant. Generally people who make ignorant statements like that are so brainwashed by one side or another there is nothing you can say to convince them otherwise.
Its obvious mankind has changed the climate through his actions. To what extent and if its permenant remains to be seen or proven.

It's probably hard to reason with someone who won't accept scientific evidence. People who beleive in conspiracy theories are even harder to reason with. If this is a truly creative or innovative person (which most skeptics of global warming are not), you might point out the opportunities they are missing out in innovative ways to find a solution.

Global warming is an established fact. The glaciers have been melting for the last 14, 000 years. The question is whether human activity has any significant effect on it. Many seem unable or unwilling to unlink those two issues.

We have people today who still dont believe that smoking causes cancer. They say its some sort of conspiracy against the tobacco industry. Some people still dont believe mankind walked on the moon. There are always gonna be nuts who dispute the facts and there is nothing at all you can do to change their minds so dont bother trying.

I think your approach may be off and that is the problem. Don't reason, instead offer facts. Download information etc and provide it to your family member. However, be sure to realize that not everyone wants to hear about global warming. The best way to approach is not to lecture but to instead inform. :)

It is a natural phenomena.. occurs cyclically about every 10,000 years... Corresponds to the glacial periods.. and apparently alternate..as we are still coming out of the last glacial period. and it is dated to have begun approximately 10,000 years ago.. Mastodons are dated accordingly., The difference being, the glacial period apparently happened within seconds, the warming seems to be taking a few decades.
