I do 5 minutes at a time abotu 3 times a day.
She is 3 months old almost and it is so painful to hear hear her cry so hard, but I know I have to do it. I just wish I could have her do it for longer but it's torturous!

I have gotten down and even held a mirror so she can see herself, but she just ignores me, maybe it's because she is not even 3 months old yet.

Maybe you should do 3 minutes in the morning, 4 minutes in the afternoon, and 5 minutes later in the day. This way you can "work up" to that terrible 5 minutes instead.
As she becomes less fussy when you're doing it, you can add another minute each time.

she needs more than 5 minutes at a time. All babies scream through tummy time.
Get down on the floor with her and show her some fun toys. Try to get 10-15 minutes out of her. More is ever better. but you being on the floor with her so youre face to face with her, and help a lot.
She will cry and fuss... but its that crying and fussing that causes her to roll herself over, and learn how to do it on command, and eventually its that rolling and fussing that teaches her how to sit up and eventually to crawl.
She cries because she CANT move, but theres no other way for her to develop those muscles.

Get a propped up baby mirror and other things to stimulate tummy time, or lay her on a "Playmat" Try to keep her busy and occupied during this tummy time.

If your baby freaks out, why do you feel you must do this? Try strengthening muscles with lap play. Babies of 3 months are still considered lap babies. Play with your baby in your lap by laying them across your knees on their tummy, or by sitting them on your knees and letting them try to pull up. Use toys to stimulate them into looking up, down, across, around, etc... Tickling(gently) is a good way to build little tummy muscles and is a way to get your infant to scream from laughter instead for other reasons. Hope that helps. Truly yours haniels-host,alexis

i would only do it as long as your baby is happy. i so rarely put my son on his tummy, because he hated it. even so, he never got a flat spot on his head from being on his back, and he crawled at 6 months. of course, he also held his head up at birth, so maybe he was just a little stronger to begin with, but in my experience - tummy time is great, but they can develope fine without it, or with very little. there is no point in making your baby so upset!
also, pretty soon she will be more interested in things around here, so try lots of stimulation in front of her on the floor. you can also try lying down with her, with your face right in hers. mom is the best entertainment!

my son practically refuses to lay on his stomach. i asked about it and some one suggested propping them up w/ a couple of pillows. if she wont lay in the floor try laying her on your bed or the couch. its much softer and babies tend to lay on them longer. Just be sure to stay with them continuously while they lay on thier stomachs. ut about 10-15 minutes is what was suggested to me... try to gradually work her up to that amount o time if she has a hard time laying on her stomach.
