This isn't a question to help me. I'm just wondering:

What pet do you have, and why did you pick it?

Cons and Pros, please.

Have fun answering.

I hope that this does not sound like a stupid question, but I was just wondering, and figured that the best way to find out would be just to - ASK!

P.S. What did you name your pet, and why?

Oh, by the way, it just occured to me to put my pet, name, pros, and cons, for everyone else to see.

I have a female dog named Honey. I got her for my birthday in '04. She will be 3 years in January. I named her Honey, because she is the color of honey. She is mostly German Shepherd, but IS mixed. In '05, we thought we had kept her safe, but she had a litter of 12 puppies. I am pretty sure that they all went to good homes - we sold them, to insure that. We got her spayed, shortly there after.

Pros: A great guard dog. Great with kids (my parents have 8 kids). Does not chase cats.

Cons: This is not a present con, but at about 2 years, she was "eating us out of house and home!" (Chewing the wood and spitting it out). She runs off several times a day, and thinks its fun to act like she can't hear me calling her. When she comes home, it is at a run, but I know that she hasn't been racing back to me, because I've been watching her. She barks at any and all pedestrians walking by.

I have a yellow Labrador Retriever named Tritan Bear. He is a year old and the absolute greatest. Dogs are great in general they love you unconditionally and are always there. I got him because my brother was dying and when he orginally got sick I got him a dog to help him. Shortly before my brother died he was worried about me and got me the Lab puppy so I would not be alone if he left. He knew I adored Labs because of their loving, loyal affectionate, dedicated versatile fun loving personalities. Tritan is the greatest and without him I would have losted it along time ago. Besides my brother passing I sustained a serious permant injury that changed my life. Tritan always keeps my spirits up, and make sure I am out of bed. He goes on walks, and runs errands with me and I can just beme around him. He fills a huge void in my life. I love absolutely everyhting about him. The only bad thing is that he weighs 120 pounds and thinks he is a lap dog. He weighs more than me and always has to climb on top of me when I am sleeping. I just wish he would realize his size.

I have a mutt named Sandi. We named her that because she has a black nose crossed with brown and looks like she's been digging in sand. She's a beautiful dog and appears to be a mix of shepherd, chow and husky...but she is brindle-colored. We adopted her from a pet rescue agency - she had been abandoned. She is a fun-loving, energetic and comical dog. The only con, and it really isn't a con so far, is that now that she has gotten so big and very protective (we were told she would be about 30 pounds - she is over 50 now.) we aren't sure how she will be with our daughter who is now 8 months. So far she just kinda sniffs her and walks off, but hopefully she will kind of grow up with her. She's a sweetie though.
We also had 2 cats, until a few months ago - both of them died recently. They were an orange long hair named Wiley, who thought he was a dog - he played fetch - and an orange and white short hair named Hero the Cowardly Cat. :-)

I have a small pack of dogs right now. A yellow lab-type mutt, a basset dachshund mix, a beagle, and a rat terrier. Their names are Sarah, Sabrina, Nina, and Pete. They're great. Very affectionate and love to play.

In my life I have had 7 dogs, 3 cats, some rabbits, hamsters, and gerbils, a squirrel, a raccoon, and many many rats. I also keep tropical fish.

I don't highly recommend that you take in squirrels and raccoons, mine were orphan babies that I took in because they wouldn't survive in the wild. Only the squirrel stuck around. The wild rabbits and the raccoon took off for the wild.

All pets are wonderful if you treat them right and give them the love and discipline they need.

I got a dog and I didn't pick her my little brother and sisters did on Halloween one year. She is a very good dog, she only barks when she hears someone at the door and lets us know when she has to go to the bathroom. The only con I have about her is she don't like showers. She is truely the best dog I have ever had. When my mom and step dad brought her home to me her name was Sophie and I just left it like that. It seems to fit her. I also didn't want to change her name because she was already like 6 weeks old and she knew it and came to it when you called her so why change it on her?

I have a cat, whom I rescued from the street as a baby, he was very sick and he would die, so I saved him. We call him Oliver, after Oliver Twist, because he too is an orphan who got adopted. He is like a baby to us, he is tender, he has learned to do no damage in the house, he is very clean, the only problem he has is that he never socialised with cats as a kitten so he is not very sociable, especially with animals, he is too attached to us.
I recently rescued a dog too, he was abandoned on the highway and he was sick too, so we have him here now, trying to find a home for him. He is loving and smart, but he barks and he needs to be taken for a walk to pee etc, as opposed to the cat, and he also needs to be bathed, so he is not so clean or so independent and he is more trouble. We call him Lykourgos, it is an ancient greek name, but also lykos mean wolf in greek, and he looks like a wolf, so that's why we chose the name.

I have a golden retriever that I got because they are good with children and my son was a year old at the time. Her name is Jenny. I could not think of a name for her so I was calling her the no name dog which evolved into generic which then was shortened to Jenny.

I have a Yellow labrador retriever named Yeller and a cat named Kricket. I can't think of all the pros and cons at the moment. I named my dog Yeller because Old yeller happens to be one of my fave movies and the dog is the same breed and color, I named the cat kricket because she jumps like a cricket

Well I have a German Shepard who is great for MY family, but is VERY protective and doesnt like anyone who is not in our family. Great guard dog but not so good as a people dog Myhusband got her after he put his other dog to sleep. My golden retirever mix is very lovable but a wimp when it comes to about everything. I got her because I just wanted a puppy. If you look at her wrong or hold something that she doesnt know what it is she will run and hide. Blame that on my husband he chases her with power tools because he knows she is scared of loud noises. She even dislikes Pistol Pete (oklahoma state university's mascot) because we were in the Christmas parade last year with my vet clinic and he was by us shooting off his gun and she freaked out and still does when she hears a gunshot. But she is a very good family dog, but a very bad guard dog, which is a good reason to keep the shepard. Their names are Dakota and Sierra. We just liked the names but everyone says we named them after pick up trucks.

My calico cat is a brat. She thinks she is the boss of everyone, but she can be a very sweet loving cat when she feels like it. My male black cat is ornery. He was a rescue cat that was dropped off at the door of a clinic I worked for and we saved him from being put to sleep. He is full of energy, but can be the best lap cat in the world if he feels like it. Arwen is my Calico and Smeagol is my male. They were named after Lord of the Rings Characters. We got him first and when we rescued him he looked just like the character Gollum/Smeagol, so we named him after the "good" personality. He had a big head with little hair on it, skinny legs, and a very bloated belly. He was ugly, but now he is a beautiful black healthy cat with dual personalities (so i guess we named him appropriately) and Arwen we got as a friend for Smeagol and decided to keep with the LOR theme adnd my father-in-law named her Arwen (I liked the idea of Smeagol and Precious, but my husband didnt like the name Precious). Anyway thats my crew (besides the fish-they dont have names) and I hope you have a Happy holiday season

I have a hamster, SO CUTE, she is named Sandy. I had a hamster before named Violet, I love all animals but hamsters are just too cute :) I prefer girl hamsters for some reason. Any cons become irrelevant because she is the cutest thing!
