my friend gave me a pair of socks and said one sock is for my B-day and the other is for christmas! is this common for people w/ christmas B-days?

Maybe your friend was just trying to be funny. Laugh it off and forget about it.
It can be quite common for people with christmas birthdays to get the combined gifts and combined parties..etc..etc..
I feel badly for you. It would be nice if there was some kind of distinction eh?

i woodnt b happy b/c there shood b more thought in the gift. she coodve at least boughten u 2 gifts, not just a pair of sox

Unless this wasn't a very good friend or this is a gag gift, I wouldn't be happy.
