Fast bowlers are not made they should be groomed later with special care. Which don't seem to happen in indian team, even that happens the bowlers change their mind set and reduce their pace to have long career. So it is all about individual interest too. Tell me what is the purpose of being faster when you are going to change gear after coming in to the national and getting some games. Munaf , Zaheer , Ishant, are the leading examples , they all migrated to medium pace for more consistency and accuracy in bowling. Currently it is good to see again there are few bowlers who are really fast , but it all depends how the captain treats them . They shouldn't be asked to change their pace or speed. These are raw and fresh talents must be use as it is. This is the best chance for Indian team to build some guys out there who can also threaten batsman with pace not only with swing and spin .

Because we have always been dependent on spinners to win matches for us both in India and overseas. I think the pitches play a big part in that. In India, we have spinning tracks or flat tracks which is not at all conducive for pace bowlers. We need to improve the quality of the pitches first and then search for genuine fast bowlers and train them. I read once that in West Indies, which is the home of many great fast bowlers in cricket history, the bowlers are trained in a unique way when they start playing first class cricket or even when they are playing for their school or college. They are given a soft lawn tennis ball and asked to bowl on the sand on the beach. Obviously it is tough as the ball is soft, there are gusty winds on beach and the they have to make the ball reach the stumps by pitching it up in the sand. May be India can try some of these kind of measures though it may not be extremely helpful. To conclude, encourage young players to bowl fast, learn fast bowling, give them proper pitches and infrastructure and then identify the real talent.

India have the potential to create all kinds of players. Fast bowlers, spin bowlers, medium fast bowlers and all other players etc. The biggest problem we Indian's are facing in cricket board is lack of motivation to newcomers. Old systems and limited mind thinking are the reasons of India team failures in many departments of the game.

Because of the piches in India. Not even a single pitch in India is green, fast & bouncy. They only support the spinners and batsmen. Thats why no one in our country wants to become a fast bowler.

PITCHES OF INDIAN GROUNDS ARE THE PRIMARY REASON FOR THIS. Also we think that spiners do a better job, and as they've been always our strength... we don't want to develope fast bowlers
Also Fast bowlers have a short career compaired to spinners

cauz theres no 1 tht fit and healthy 2 bowl at that speed
there is no fast bowler who can bowl consistently
sometimes these fast bowlers r thrashed by the batsmen more than the medium pacers
like pakis have many
and most of the fast bowlers r from the north
e.g. akhtar, umar gul, arafat, asif, waqar akram
they all come from a mountain area and none of indian bowlers r from the mountain region of our country

Blame them on the slow flat pitches that you find in India. Few bowlers are enthused to take up fast bowling on such wickets as the chances of getting wickets are far less than in spin bowling.

Its due to the pitches here in india are not very much supportive to seamers, but this is not the only one reason behind this,
many fast bowlers are there and performing well but they are not consistent when they play in international levels, they need some time to perform.

now shreeshanth and munaf are bowling above 90mphs but they are not consistent, they need some time to show thier talent.
