I don't know if there is any magic formula, or recipe. I would start from the premise that if you try to win friends, you will not achieve your goal. As for influencing people, that one is pretty straightforward. Just speak your mind, think clearly, and focus.
Try first of all to win yourself and influence yourself. When you are successful, you will have the right formula.

Some people will tell you that all you have to do is be yourself and people will like you. Sounds nice when people tell that to their children, but it doesn't always work out like that in the real world. If your true self is a jerk or a weirdo, it will still repel people.
People are likely to befriend and be more easily influenced by people who are like them. In a way, every personality is an advocate for the self, and we all like to have confirmation that we have backed the right cause. So if you want friends and influence, be more like the people you want to befriend or influence. Most likely, you will have to be a bit untrue to yourself, but nothing really gets done without sacrifice.

Thats bull crap, if your asking this question, the answer is not "be yourself".
Generally influence has alot to do with your level of charisma and your status. You want to maintain slightly higher status during most of your interactions. My definition of Charisma is how much people want to be like you. What is actually going on subconsciously in people you are influencing is you are bringing them up to your level. They feel like if they do what you suggest they will in some way be at your status level.
For the most part, these are things like positivity, everybody likes to feel good and positive...the key here is about themself.
You must learn to make people feel good(about themself) when they are around you.
