In Native American traditions (generally speaking), turtle is the symbol for mother earth.
In India, turtle symbolizes longevity.

NO those anwser are wrong . the back of the turtle has 13 scales which represents 13 moons(months).In our moderan month system we have 12 instead of 13.But not all tribes believe in this way only certain ones.
