Our needs are the prime motives of all our actions. All needs are pressing as they denote things we want at a certain time and place in our lives; all needs therefore need to be fulfilled immediately unless there is a reason for delay. And this I suppose is the point here.

The hierarchy of human needs according to Abraham Maslow has our need for food at the bottom, and then there is need for shelter, need for procreation, social approbation and finally self-actualisation at the top. We can wait until certain needs are fulfilled before certain other needs are addressed. We can sacrifice lower level needs for the sake of higher level needs. For example, we can endure hot and cold for the sake of the people we live with. We wait for holy occasions for celebrations. If there are some considerations regarding the time and place of fulfilment of your needs then those considerations must be based upon the order of things on your priority list that value most to you in your life – keep first things always first.
