I don't think people should be forced to be slaves but if you can't sell yourself to someone else then are you really free?

prostitution and work are really renting yourself. I am talking about getting a lump sum and then being owned by another person.

from dictionary.com: Slave "a person who is the property of and wholly subject to another; a bond servant"
Indentured Servants are for a specific amount of time

According to a recent Supreme Court ruling, quite probably. The Court ruled in the case of the Bipartisan Election Funding Reform Act (generally called McCain-Feingold) that it was legal for the U.S. Government to place prior restraint on freedom of political speech if the Government had another important interest to serve. In this case, the "important interest" was ensuring fair elections, an issue that is not found in the Constitution.
So, if it is possible to overrule the First Amendment (Congress shall make no law abridging freedom of speech...) because of an important interest not found in the Constitution, there is nothing to prohibit Congress from making slavery legal again.

prostitution is legal in nevada you could move there and feel better. i see what you're saying. you're saying that if we can't do what we want than we're not really free. right about now is where laws come into play. we have laws to protect us and the people around us. there are some sick people around in the world. imagine if we all were really free. you might look at someone crooked and then get a bullet between the eyes and the shooter wouldn't think twice about it. the laws are here to intimidate the bad people so they don't do wrong. back to your question if "slavery" should be legalized. NO

what you are describing is indentured servitude.
by definition, slavery is a forced situation.

I believe the definition of slavery includes the word "involuntary". Otherwise, if someone simply chose to submit themselves to another's will for money, wouldn't it just be "servitude", no matter how debasing it may be? You are certainly free to do that! Just ask my boss! :-D
In response to your update: Okay, smart guy, then I have a nice dominatrix for you to meet. The bottom line is that, no, slavery should not be legalized, even if it abridges your freedom to submit yourself fully to another, because it would leave the door open for INVOLUNTARY slavery of others. Tough beans, adolf.

Hahahahah, interesting wording. I hate to be the idiot who answers with "I don't know," but I don't. I'll have to think about it.
And since you brought it up, repealing prohibition would go further toward making us a truly free country than allowing the right to sell ourselves into slavery. But good point.

If you actually think slavery should be legal, become a slave and see how you like it. It might be an improvement for you.

Funny or not I agree. I also agree that you should be allowed to kill at least 3 stupid people. It is natural law. Survival of the fittest. If we could kill 3 stupid people... You never would have asked this question. Your parents probably wouldn't have been allowed to procreate. And most importantly Bush probably wouldn't be President.

I think they should turn convicted criminals into slaves for a fixed amount of time so that people can buy them and use them for farms and construction that way illegal immigrants can't get jobs.
