My daughter has an unusual french name! Her name is Joelle Nichole (Joelle is pronounced like Noel (the christmas song) with a J) Very unusual and her nick name is Joey.... I have only heard it one other time when I was very young.... and the meaning of it is Jesus is Lord. I get compliments on her name all the time! Good luck!

Amandine
Manon
Mireille
Estelle
Laetitia
Emmanuelle, Emma
Mathilde

Victorine (a bit old-fashioned)
Nolwenn (more "Breton" than typical French, but...)
Maelis, Maëlle (same note)
Clara
Océane
Marianne
Julie
Camille
Valentine (not so common, but nice)

Boys :
Philippe
Loïc
Sébastien
Julien
Hugo
Léo (abreviation of "Léon" which is a bit old-fashioned now)

There are so many, many first manes... Try a search on "prénoms francais" (French first names), "garcons" (boys), "filles" (girls), you'll get many ideas - if you can read French of course...
