The right-wing nutjobs say it's the liberals. The left-wing nut jobs say it's the conservatives. Meanwhile, there is genocide in Darfur and the UN is sitting on it's fat can, Osama Bin Laden is still hiding in Pakistan, the Iranian madman is arming nukes and has threatened us and our allies, and Kim Jong the mentally ill is making long range nuclear weapons and pushed it so far that even their sole ally, China, is getting pissed off.
Politicians play games with us and pit us against one another, saying "The Republicans are evil and hate the poor" and "The Democrats are weak communists who will cripple the economy", plus the personal attacks, and the slander of trolls here on Yahoo Answers with dumb questions like "Why is Bush the Devil?" and "Why are all liberals (expletive deleted)?"
Calling all moderate conservatives, liberalsm and independents:
UNITE! IGNORE THE PARTISANSHIP AND VOTE OUT ALL IMCUMBENTS! END CORRUPTION NOW!
Are you willing to work together to succeed?

You may disagree on some issues, but we all want fiscal responsibility, whether there is more or less welfare, we must cut pork spending, and we must stop the infighting, and we need new acountable leadership.
We need to rebuild our alliances and we need to stop blaming the president, and we need to stop blaming his opponents. The have both failed.
We need new leaders, but we need to stop the bickering and slander and immaturity.

The only people who benefit from us attacking each other like wild dogs are the criminals in Washington DC.
After Al Qaeda, THEY are the enemy.

You cannot generalize and say stupid sh;t like "all conservatives are hateful" or "all Republicans are stupid" or "all of the people who voted for Bush are evil" or "all liberals are pothead losers" or "all Democrats are commie scum" or "all the people who protest the war are America haters"
STOP THAT! There's 300 million people in this country. Saying idiotic cr4p like that is hurting America.

askthepizzaguy, your responses and questions are always so well-worded and thought out. Bravo to you.
That said, I agree completely. I think that whining about the entire other group, instead of bothering to discuss things, makes the parties that much further apart. I'm married to a conservative, and we enjoy discussing politics. We've never once called each other a "libtard" or a "neocon."
If you have some sort of beef about a certain person, great. As long as it's thought out and not simply an attack with no basis in reality, it can be thought provoking and interesting.
My (conservative) brother-in-law said something really interesting once. He said that the ideas and ideals of both parties balance each other out, so that one thing is never pushed into an overly-elevated position. I can agree with that in regards to in the country.
I also agree that there are things a lot worse that people can be concerned with, and your examples are great.

I agree with you. I truly believe the problem is the military. The budget for the US military is in the billions. The budget for welfare is no where near the size of the one for the military. The gov't AKA the media (right or left wing biased, take your pick) wants us divided and they slant the news toward blaming everyone that's on welfare. I don't agree with enabling people by keeping them on welfare (and I'm a socialist) but I say cut the military down....do we really need all of the nuclear warheads and submarines and weapons that we have? Stop spending all the money on that to fight "the war on terror" and spend it on education and leveling the playing field a little...the rich don't even have to give up anything since it's the middle class that is paying all of these taxes. If people get a little education (and I'm not talking about Harvard, I'm talking about basic life skills/job skills) then they don't need to be dependent on the govt.
better education about birth control doesnt have to mean handing out condoms. How about holding the media accountable for the bs that they promote to impressionable kids and teenagers about a lifestyle that doesnt really exist? Maybe there would be less teenage pregnancies and less people living in trailer parks because there is no where else to live? Maybe then abortion wouldnt be necessary? Something to think about.
We could all make this work but then again, when I bring these ideas up I get called all kinds of names because I am a socialist and called naive and a "pot smoking liberal". If people werent so negative, maybe something could be done.
I think the first thing is communication. And when you realize the govt doesnt want us coming together and communicating, it wants us kept apart and bickering and fighting. Then it could continue doing what it's doing without being questioned too closely. For myself, I dont do well when other people tell me what to do, so I dont like the govt manipulating me. Or spying on me.
I'd work with conservatives, moderates, you name it, as long as they can be respectful, I can too. Of course, if people like Skull beater are an example, then I'll just stay in my own little corner and wish you all well in global warming.
it's a nice idea you have, though. Who knows, maybe a seed got planted with your question. It sure beats bashing one another. I get tired of it.

Great societies are normally destroyed from within. While I would like to say the politicians are the enemies, really it is we the people. We do still have the power, but we just refuse to exercise it. I mean look at the numbers that vote in the Presidential elections. In 08 there were roughly about 110 million votes cast, give or take a few million. There are more than 300 million people in this country. The simple fact is that too many people just do not care enough to take a stand at the ballot box. We have become fat, spoiled and lazy. This will indeed bring about our eventual and inevitable downfall.

Who is the enemy? The executive branch. Read about it under "unitary executive" and "signing statement".
Americans elected a large number of Democrat moderates last month. Bipartisanship? Bush has rejected this concept every day since. Look what he did with the Iraq Study Group Report! He'll show the Congress who's boss next month as he orders tens of thousands of troops to quarter with Iraqis in the most violent sectors of Baghdad. Aircraft carriers are in the Gulf region now, awaiting orders from Bush to bomb Iran.
Explain how abrasive dialog and discussion between plebeians affects these events. You know there's something wrong with the country and you've asked an excellent question, but think again about your answer. The enemy is the person or persons with the real power, and it ain't the people.

The president is still the enemy - but yes, true so are the democrats and the republicans. They're all corrupt and out for themselves, and don't give a damn about anyone except the people who pay their enormous wages. Get rid of the lot of them and replace them with people who can do the job properly. If there truly isn't anyone who is up to the job better than they are, then we're all truly screwed.

That's right. Unite or die should be the policy, but not to the extreme of Facism. We must persucete our enemies not our allies. Or else the fall of freedom and America will begin. Fight back.

I, as a liberal, would be willing to work together with conservatives to make positive, progressive changes. Problem is we have too many like X23 that are so full of themselves and their own ideology that they could never evolve enough to work with anybody except those of "like mind".

This country is in desperate need of "political reform". I'm all for voting out incumbents, but would rather take it one step further and fire them all - today. Elect only real Americans that have only the country and it's citizens as their focal point rather than themselves and their political careers.

Hey, how about you just stay out of politics because it sounds like you have anger issues that are not related to your question. Just chill out and smoke a bowl. Make your parents proud. By the way, how is your dad making out with the snow storms this winter? Still sucking on the white stuff is he??
